Amin Mojtahedi Named Chair of EDRA CORE

Amin Mojtahedi, PhD, has been named 2020 Chair of the Certificate of Research Excellence (CORE)—a professional certification program recognizing exceptional research that pushes the boundaries of professional practice.
Mojtahedi is a Design Strategist at HGA in San Jose, where he uses architectural design processes to design organizational change and strategic social interactions in workplace, higher education, and healthcare environments. In his work, he draws from people-space analytics, action research, ethnographic research, and Design Thinking to shape the architectural planning and design process.
In addition, he is an educator at IDEO U; a University Innovation Fellow (UIF) at the Stanford d.school; co-founder of People-Space Analytics, an architectural technology startup; and a 2018 Upstart 50 honoree, which recognizes “the most dynamic, disruptive, and innovative people” in the Bay-area business community.

He frequently presents at national conferences, including most recently “Design Thinking and the Research Application Problem” co-authored with Susan Foong, “Designing for Extremes: Using Techno-Ethnography and Immersive Empathy to Shape Inclusive Architecture” at EDRA50 Brooklyn co-authored with d’Andre Willis, Bryan Cannon, and Abi Kallushi, and “Design Thinking for Creating Places That Foster Students’ Creative Confidence” at SCUP Annual Conference co-presented with Rich Smith.
He also has published research in industry journals, including “Design Thinking: Reimagining the Healthcare Design Process” co-authored with Kurt Spiering in Medical Construction & Design.
